OBGYN/Midwife or hospitals may not perform a diagnostic ultrasound for health and wellness reasons until 20 weeks into pregnancy. Normally, you need to wait for your baby to grow enough for their physical traits to be visible in an ultrasound, but a NIPT DNA gender test can be completed much earlier in the pregnancy. NIPT's or DNA gender t ests can reveal your baby’s gender earlier than you’d find out with our typical gender reveal ultrasound. Our NIPT test is 99.9% accurate at 6 weeks into pregnancy! These tests are often referred to as noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT for short) because they can be done with a simple and quick blood drawing from the mother. If male chromosomes are found, that means baby is a boy. Our Baby Gender DNA Test looks for male chromosomes in a small sample of mom’s blood. While every person has their own DNA in their bloodstream, a pregnant woman’s bloodstream also contains DNA from her unborn child. Unlike other methods of screening for Down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities, NIPT does not rely on information about an individual's age or ethnicity - it can be performed at any time during pregnancy and it does not require invasive procedures such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling. The procedure involves extracting cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) from maternal blood and amplifying its copy number through polymerase chain reaction analysis and multiplex ligation dependent probe amplification (MLPA). Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) detects the presence or absence of fetal cells that originated in the placenta. The SneakPeek test is sensitive enough to find even a single Y chromosome, giving you confidence in your results. Starting with a small sample of blood from mom, plasma is separated from whole blood by centrifuge, and extracted cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) is analyzed for Y chromosomes, which are found only in males.
